About Us

Fish and Loaves is a faith-based volunteer organization that provides supplemental food for those in need, who reside within the Bellevue School District or have children that attend the Bellevue Schools. This ministry originated through the Bellevue Ministerial Association. We have 12 Board Members who make sure the pantry is ready for “business” every week. They shop, clean, stock and complete all necessary paperwork to meet guidelines and gather stats.

Concerned about people being hungry living in and near Bellevue, the Bellevue Ministerial Association, under the umbrella of 14 different churches decided to assist those people who might experience hunger in our community.

On February 16, 1983, the Bellevue Fish and Loaves Food Pantry was established as a non-profit organization to help individuals and families that need food assistance.

We are located at 203 Maple Street. Our building was a gift from Jim and Nancy Shelly. Many enhancements over the years have made it into the excellent facility that it is. The walk-in cooler and freezer have a generator to safe-guard our foods during power-outages.

The Pantry has been blessed through out the  years with the solid support of our community.  Service groups, individual contributions and support from the  business community have played a vital role in keeping our mission alive. With there support, the pantry has been open every Wednesday for the past 30 years, providing food for the hungry.

The duration of the Pantry’s existence is a testament this is a caring community.

We are open every Wednesday from 1:00 – 5:00 p. m.

To qualify clients must have proof of residence, a picture I.D., and they must be income eligible according to government income guidelines.

Our funds come primarily from the community: grants, United Selective Fund, private citizens, churches, businesses, banks and schools. It should be noted, that Second Harvest provides about 40-45 % of the items we stock.

We serve clients once a month. In the summer, those who have school-age children receive a second box of food.

Farmer’s Markets and a complete Thanksgiving Dinner are also provided.

In 2016, we served 9992 individuals. On average per month we serve the needs of approximately 271 families. 192 families and 557 individuals were served at the Farmers Market in September and July. 248 families received a Holiday Thanksgiving Dinner.
